Brian Adler is a wonderful drummer and percussionist. We’ve worked together as sidemen on many other projects and I was thrilled when he asked me to record on this album. The Helium Music Project is a compilation of 13 tracks, each one using a different group of musicians. The album includes some of my favorite improvisers like Ben Monder, Kate McGarry, and Carmen Staaf. I recorded on the song “Up in the Air,” which features Matt Holman on trumpet, Ruben Samama on bass, and the vibraphonist Bryan Carrott.
