Jeremy Noller is an incredibly versatile and swinging drummer who has immersed himself in the study of rhythms from West Africa. Jeremy put together a great band (Dan Loomis on bass and Brian Van Arsdale on sax) to audition for “The Rhythm Road,” a State Department sponsored tour that brings American musicians to remote parts of the world to perform and teach. We didn’t get the gig but the band stayed together and the result is this album, which fuses jazz improvisation with West African rhythms. I played my Martin OM18-v on all of the tracks. The West African percussion virtuoso Mangue Sylla contributes his talents on several tracks.
